THIS PIECE IS THE PERFECT FOR THE BEGINNING to BASIC INTERMEDIATE NEEDLEPOINTER.
The designs found on West African masks and textiles influence AFRICAN SUNSET. The "borders-within-borders" design uses bold, large scale, geometric and bargello stitches to interpret the design. it is the 2nd design the series (after African Eve) and is a perfect stitching project from an advanced beginner and above. I used an assortment of silk/wool blends and cotton threads to experience the effects of combining a variety of weights, sheens and textures.
INCLUDED IN THE KIT: spiral bound instruction book, the canvas with taped edges with the design drawn, and a storage bag. NO THREADS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS BASIC KIT. The original was stitched in 2003 and the silk & wool thread is no longer made, but suggestions for substitute threads are included in the instructions. Or have fun choosing your own threads and colors.
Design size is 8-1/4" square
The Ground Fabric is 14 count eggshell mono canvas.
When finished African Sunset will fit in a Sudbury wood serving tray or it can become a lovely tasseled pillow, tote, pillow insert, or may be framed.
